    Static Caravan - Awning Recommendation
    « on: September 15, 2020, 08:19:25 pm »
Me again - I would like to get an awning over my door to enjoy fresh air (but with scottish weather it rains a lot) - any recommendation on awnings for a static van.  Thanks in advance

I  have always been told that static caravans are not built to take awnings in the same way tourers or motor homes are.
There have been a number of posts on social media over time where this has been discussed but opinions are really divided as to whether it is practical or not.

I'd really be worried about fixing an awning. We looked at it but there just anything that I would deem structurally safe to attach it to. I'd hate for a single gust of wind to take the front of your 'van off.

We went with an banana umbrella so the base is out of the way but even then we haven't used it that much. Also they are not stable in the wind. Rocking about all over the place.

How about tying a pop up gazebo and then securing the lines down to the base of the van. Should stop it from blowing away and some of them are very sturdy and quick to pop up and down.
