Hi all ,anyone take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch last weekend .Interesting and enjoyable. You had to list out the species and number of birds that landed in your garden in 1hr then send your findings on line or by post to the RSPB and they use the data collected to ascertain the well-being of birds in the UK and also which species are in decline.

That sounds like a great idea. I may keep an eye on that for next year, my 4 soon to be 5 y/o would love that. Would be a great project to take back to school

I didn’t do it Brian but am interested , what birds did u get . I think there is a big decline , I live in suburbia , everyone around has a garden and there are small fields and a park close by but there are definitely a lot less birds about than there used to be . We see very few sparrows nowadays , we get tits , wood pigeons , black birds , magpies , a robin. But I can fill my bird table and it doesn’t get touched by smaller birds, maybe some close goes to sainsburys for their bird food and it’s more preferable to my tescos 🤷‍♂️

Hi Slattster yea it was enjoyable ,we do everything we can to attract birds into our garden. For the birdwatch we had house sparrows ,dunnock, blue tits, great tits,a wren,a grey wagtail, blackbirds, and starlings. The Blue Tits have taken a shine to two of our nest boxes so we are excited about that .
