    Time for Change
    « on: February 19, 2021, 12:45:06 pm »
    Hi all,

After 13 years of touring and with the kids grown up, we have decided to sell the caravan and purchase a used static. We’re yet to make a decision on a site but we have been reading the pro’s and con’s of static caravan life. So we are hopefully as well prepared as we can be.

Looking forward to chatting and no doubt seeking your advice as we move forward.

    Tonks

    Hi, welcome to the Forum.
I am sure that you will find most of the information you need on this site.  If you need any further help or advice, we are all here - we help each other all the time.
The best advice is : take your time; do some research; make a checklist of your requirements - both essential things as well as the other things that you would like, but could live without.
    Good luck.

Hello Tonks and welcome to the forum.

Good luck with finding your ideal static caravan and site. I am sure you will not regret it. So long as you are prepared to not look at it as an investment but a life style choice.  :) Let us know how you get get on with finding a site and static.

There is some useful information on here about buying etc.

Welcome to the forum Tonks, and welcome to a different world, the one of static ‘van ownership.

You will find numerous changes from a tourer, especially if you did tour. The biggest will be the very fact that it is static so picking it’s location I.e. area & site is a major decision. You’ll want an area close enough to home so that the travelling back and forth doesn’t become a chore, and that will both provide for your enjoyment and supplies etc. whilst you’re there.
Then it becomes a case of researching the sites within that area and finding one that’s right for you.  From the small little corner of a farmer’s field & no facilities sites up to the all singing all dancing holiday resorts within themselves that some of the larger sites have become, there should hopefully be a wide range to choose from.

Try and make this picking and choosing a pleasure rather than a chore and I wish you “Good Hunting”

Well some good news to share. Mrs C and I have put a deposit down on a ABI Ashcroft 2014 model and a pitch on a site in Norfolk. Obviously this has been on the basis of virtual tours due to lockdown, but the deposit is fully transferable and we had been to the site before. We’re both really excited after possibly 10 years of considering a move from touring and reading all the pro’s and con’s and following forum discussions.

    Roll on April!

    Thats great news Tonks

Glad you have found a site and static you are happy with. What part of Norfolk have you decided to go to? We have a static in North Suffolk near Lowestoft.

The ABI Ashcroft looks like a lovely static.  All you need to do now is buy all the items you need.  Which is quite a lot  ;D I think there is a topic on here regarding everything required. Though i suppose you must have some items left over from your touring caravan.

That's good that the deposit is transferable depending on your visit to the van in person.
    Exciting times.

    Hi Tonks,

Can I say a belated "Welcome to the Forum". Sorry I'm so late, was half term last week and I didn't really sit at a computer.

Great news on finding your static. It's great to have a place to bolt away to. We never toured but visited Cornwall regularly so getting a static down there was the perfect option for us.

I am genuinely excited for you. Can't wait to hear of updates.

Let's get this ruddy lockdown over and then we all get share some stories and experiences.
