Glad it helped mate. Is such a good neat system. Has saved me quite a packet as well in drain down costs, much to the dismay of my site. They still message me every year asking to do it but they want £100 a pop these days. Also means I can easily be compliant with my insurance that wants a drain down in the colder months and not just at lock down.

Biggest issues is guests fiddling with it when they are trying to turn the water on and turn on the boiler. They don't quite understand what it is and basically not to touch it.

Great bit of kit.

Hello mate,

Interesting one. Getting up there and it supporting you weigh would be the biggest issue. What type of finish are you looking for? Is it just to touch it up and weatherproof? If so then for me it would be a scraper/sander on a poll and then paint on with a roller on an extendable poll.

Paint would have to be of an outdoor variety. I'm wondering if you'd have to prime the roof first with some form of undercoat to get it to adhere better or if you could just put a couple of coats of the top stuff

We tried the fan solution with our furry mate but he, for some reason, doesn't like the fan blowing on him even though it's doing him good. This is also a dog that will go sunbathing on the hottest day of the year then come in the 'van baking hot and wondering why  :P

Many thanks, I am looking at going down the portable route. i also never leave my dog unattended, she is like glue to me, I do do worry about excess heat at night. Last year I had a big bag of ice in front of a fan  :)

Hi Dave,

This is also something we considered but pretty much wrote off due to price. Your main issue will be the fact the decking does not move but the 'van might. The high pressure hoses for air con do not have a lot of flex in them. In the end we went for a moblie unit and I made a plate for a window so I can attach the hose. Can be a tad noisy though. Even then we still never leave our dog in the van unattended just in case we lose power which does happen on a semi frequent occasion

I am sure someone posted on here about a air con system for 'vans but you'd have to do a search
