    New Mattresses
    « on: November 07, 2020, 01:47:21 pm »
    Hi all,

So now we are not renting the 'van anymore we thought it would be a good idea to upgrade our mattresses for a lot more comfort. The ones that came with from Willerby are pretty poor, crappy sprung ones that as soon as you lie on them you almost go through them.

Where would you all recommend to get some new mattresses, and the linen that actually fits, considering the very strange size of the current ones. We have 4 small thin singles and what looks like a normal double. The singles are my biggest concern as I have never seen anything that size before.

    Cheers.

We’ve not felt the need to change ours yet but I have seen a few places that make caravan mattresses to fit all sorts of sizes and shapes.  There are a few shops in the resorts on the coast that do similar.
I suspect a bit of research on the internet will provide you with a number of options.

Worth looking at Mattressman.  They stock many sizes and offer free delivery.  Your narrow singles are probably 30 inches wide, that is a common size for twin beds in many caravans.  You may find that they are not always the same length, so best measure each one if you can.

    Cheers all.

I've had a scoot on the internet. Seems to be a few options. thecaravanwarehouse.co.uk seems to only sell the exact same mattress that I have now. They even state that it's what is supplied to new Willerby, ABI etc. Starts at £100!!  ::)

I am going to try to find some with a foam memory layer and a bit firmer than what I have.

The other option available to me is a spare memory foam mattress. My dad has a spare that he no longer wants. Hardly ever been used. Has anyone had any experience in chopping one of these up to fit? I could probably get 2 single out of it. Just not sure it'll stay all in one piece or just crumble into bits once I take a Stanley knife to it.

That's great cheers Dave. I'll give them a good look over and see what I can come up with.

First I'll hit Willerby's site and see if I can find out the dimensions of the mattresses. I did write it down once but I seem to have deleted it  :o

Don’t use a Stanley knife cutting foam it makes a right mess, use a bread carving knife or an electric carving knife..
