    Insurance renewal 2021
    « on: October 18, 2021, 09:46:08 am »
    Hi all,

Having initially taken out insurance through our dealership on delivery of our caravan at short  notice earlier this year it's time for me to renew.  I'm sure my insurers provide an excellent service for the premium, but it does seem rather costly (not unexpected based on the initial premium I paid for 4 months cover).

I know people often aren't  keen to recommend  the likes of insurers, but I thought I ask anyway.  So if you have a trusted provider who gives the appropriate level of cover backed with good claims processing (though hopefully not needed) for a fair premium I be interested in hearing from you.

Alternatively if there are any insurance comparison sites for statics you can recommend that would also be useful.

Any advice for a complete novice would be appreciated.

Hello Smudge ,as I’ve never claimed on my van insurance I can’t say I recommend these but I have used these and they seem efficient enough . Try leisure days  or I now use a broker called A plan

Like any insurance, the premium depends on several factors - where it is, what it is, and what you want included.

Brokers Lifesure are usually very well spoken of, and I have seen good reports of their claims handling process in the Park Home and vehicle sectors.

NACO is also an insurance broker for static caravans, no idea what they are like but worth while looking - they have some useful pages on their website.

Thanks both for your recommendations, I've had a fun afternoon comparing quotes.  In the end I'm going with NACO, because it offers Vermin cover as standard which is apparently essential for a Lake District site - how  I'm  looking forward to the little blighters paying us a visit 😏

NACO are very good if and when you need to claim.
For future reference, I would recommend Frank Pickles Insurance. That is who I insured with this year.

We are just with Gallagher. The insurers that have a partnership with our site Park Dean. So they should communicate with each other.

We have just renewed ourselves. It is pure laziness why we haven't shopped around. We had a claim for some damage last year and they seemed very efficient and their team were friendly etc. Maybe I'll have a little more of a look around next time around.

    Thanks Sparkalisious

We took a Gallagher policy through the caravan dealership when we took delivery in June.  Since cover was only through to the end of October it was the easy option at the time.
Though I've no issue at all with Gallagher I'd always intended to look around the market at renewal time.  Having done that with the help of both forum members and fellow owners on our site I've saved almost 40% on the quoted premium, while maintaining equivalent cover.  I didn't want to buy just based on price so even could even discount several even cheaper quotes. It just goes to show that it's worth doing a little shopping around if you have time to spare.

Thanks all for your help, we're sorted for the coming year and have a list of providers to consider when renewal comes around again.

    Cheers all
