    Gas oven recommedations
    « on: January 15, 2022, 06:35:45 pm »
    Hello all,
I'm new to the group and only a recent owner of a 10 year old static caravan, so apologies if this has been asked before - does anyone have recommendations for gas ovens? We have real problems with distribution of heat and end up with food burnt on one side and almost raw on the other.
What are the better makes/models and any preferred suppliers?

    Many thanks in advance.

Caravan gas (LPG) ovens don’t have the best reputation for reliability of results. Many ‘van owners give up on them and go the route of halogen oven, ninja cooker etc. rather than suffer the vagaries of trusting in LPG.
This is the way we’ve gone and have found it far more rewarding.

Our static has a Spinflow Enigma oven and it works perfectly.  Heats up in good time, thermostat is fairly accurate and, unlike some ovens, does not lose heat from around the door.

I agree with others , the caravan cooker isn’t the best but it does do everything we ask of it , we do have the oven a bit higher than we would at home . I don’t know the make and model but have a look here https://www.static-caravan-spares.co.uk/index.php?route=common/home. for some ideas.
For better makes and models it might be worth going to a caravan showground and see what the higher end van have in them.

We also have a Spiniflo (Think it's an Enigma) oven. Hobs and grill work fine. Hobs are slow to boil water but I'm used to induction at home.

Oven takes a little bit of a knack of getting used to. Have to rotate a pizza quite regularly. Everything else just cooks fine. I tried to use the bottom of the oven as a shelf and this did not work, food just got warm and didn't cook. I ordered an extra shelf from www.thecaravanwarehouse.co.uk as we have 4 in our household and need as much oven real estate as possible. This has worked well. Got an exact replacement part which leaves a gap at the back for heat transfer from the burners. Some food still needs turning but I've got used to it now.

One thing to note, the oven is smallish so something like a pizza tray is a push to get it in the oven without burning it. So don't go mad on the size of your oven tray  :)
