This has been raised many times here and elsewhere.
First, it is very difficult to buy a static from a manufacturer and then getting a park to take it.
The system is that you place your order with the park and the park places the order with the manufacturer. You can discuss design, layout, extras and reductions with the manufacturer (which is great fun) BUT they will price up and send the costing to the park, who will then tell you the turnkey price.
Manufacturers usually only sell direct if somebody has their own land - and as you won't have a line of credit with them, you may have to pay in full up front before the build starts.
Everybody involved in the process is a business, and all businesses (to remain in business) have to make a profit on each element. The person paying for the profit margin is the end user (you).
So - the manufacturer has to make a profit.
The delivery company has to make a profit.
The contractors who unloads it, puts it into position and sites it (levelling, axle stands, etc) has to make a profit.
The companies who connect it to the utilities and commission and check it it have to make a profit..
And then the park itself has to make a profit.
Which is why it is such a big difference between the ex-works and the fully sited price.
Some people get so bogged down getting upset about the perceived profit margins for the park that they lose all enjoyment in the purchase and ownership.
Many never buy because they cannot find a park where the perceived profit margin is acceptable (but they never find this an issue when buying a house, for some reason).
Ask yourself:
Do I want it?
Can I afford it?
Is it a price I am willing to pay?
If the answers are all yes, then why worry about how much or how little profit the park is getting (you want them to stay in business, don't you?)
The other thing to remember is that a static caravan comes under the Consumer Act. If you buy from the park, the park, as the retailer, are responsible for any defects or problems, regardless of whether caused by manufacturing or siting or connections. If you buy from the manufacturer, any problems you get caught between two businesses, manufacturer and park, each probably blaming the other.
