    Caravan skin warping and bowing
    « on: August 10, 2022, 04:01:46 pm »
    Hi guy's,
Has anyone experienced panel warping, creases and bowing on their Willerby statics.
We have a new 2022 Castleton that has seriously been affected (see) pictures whilst other vans on our site that are a lot older than ours have not been affected in anyway by this heatwave.
Something is wrong, can any of you suggest what might have happened while we wait for Willerby to decide whether to come out to see and decide if they will do anything.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Royal welcome to the forum.

Sorry to see that has happened to you. It should definitely not have happened. All I can think for the cause is a lack of expansion joint for that panel. It will either be over tightened when the ‘van was put together in the factory or maybe your decking was secured incorrectly to the ‘van which didn’t allow the panels to expand.

If I’m honest, are you sure someone hasn’t given it a shunt, maybe through the decking somehow. That is a lot of warping and looks more like the van may have taken a hit somehow

    hello,
Thanks for your reply and thoughts.
No the van has not been bumped, nor has the decking been attached to the van either, its purely heat related on the panels (well the whole side really).  My wife and I agree it does look a bit like a car smash though...
When the sun is directly on that side you can see the tension in the screw heads.  the bowing in the panels comes out to about 25-30mm in places, but its the creases I'm more concerned about as they do not diminish at all when the side is cool at night.
Hope the Willerby person can sort it for us soon.
    Keep smiling.
